Good Eats (Camaraderie)
Alton Brown says this is his favorite steak recipe he’s conjured up. We agree with him completely. The Good Eats (not) Over the Coals Fajitas is best marinade and steak flavor we’ve had in all our steak experimentations. Alton calls for this steak to be cooked on top of (literally, not even on a metal grate) hot coals. We don’t own a charcoal grill so we had to prepare these fajitas over the gas, not the coals. I’m sure we missed out on some great flavors but this is all we had to work with. All in all, we loved this recipe and loved grilling out during the beautiful weather we had over the last week. Grilling out and a change in the weather is a sure-fire (pun intended) way to get some date night sparks going.
This might be a good time to highlight how much we love using the Spotify mood stations. There seems to be a playlist for every season of life, along with every range of emotion. So we had the Mood Booster playlist playing in the background while enjoying this excellent meal together.
Good Plan (Initiative)
With little kids running around these days, we have plenty of plastic Easter eggs lying around our house. So, for this date night activity, I attempted to give those eggs a second use. We had an Encouraging Easter Egg Hunt! First, we filled a few plastic eggs with a bit of candy. After that, we took some scrap pieces of paper and wrote some encouraging notes to each other of the pieces of paper. Once we had our encouraging notes written, we put them in our candy-filled eggs and then strategically hid them throughout our front yard for an encouraging egg hunt! We both sweetly enjoyed this time together. If you have extra plastic eggs lying around, this would be a fun date night activity in the coming weeks.
Good Conversation (Depth)
An evening filled with encouragements naturally flows into good conversation and cultivates depth between one another. We had a great evening together and the encouragements were a nice catalyst.
