Window Shopping + Starbucks Lemon Loaf

Good Eats (Camaraderie)

Sweet baby Haddon is nearing nine weeks old. At this point he’s giving me more hours of sleep each night but I’m still doing that late-night Pinterest-ing during his feedings! Pinterest is awesome for newborn mommies and has helped keep this mommy awake with inspiration for date nights and our family. It was my week to plan date night and I decided to apply one of my pins from my Pinterest board! This week, we decided to attempt a sweet copycat of the Starbucks Lemon Loaf! Oh my goodness was it delicious! Once again, Matt and I were able to utilize our new favorite ingredient…lemon zest! It truly is a dessert game changer. We will for sure repeat this recipe in the future!

Good Plan (Initiative)

I also planned our date night activity and my one goals was to get out of the house! Newborns tend to keep us indoors, so for this 65 degrees and sunny date night, we went window shopping! We grabbed each of our favorite drinks from Starbucks and drove to one of our (correction…my, Matt doesn’t really have a favorite shopping area other than Home Depot and Best Buy) favorite shopping areas and walked from shop to shop together. We, thankfully, had a sweet friend keep Lily for the evening while we got away and pushed our sleepy little man around with us. It was nice taking our time in stores and not feeling rushed while we looked in fear of a toddler breaking something. We purchased one item during this date night, a Sumo Mandarin that wowed us at the Fresh Market. It’s price also wowed us…$5 for only one massive orange. One of the staff was giving out samples and we had never tasted an orange this yummy. This date night activity served as a refreshing way to get outside and spend some intentional time together. We both loved it!

Good Conversation (Depth)

1. If you could fit our home with one completely wonderful appliance or amenity, what would you pick?

Matt: Floor to ceiling white custom bookshelves and a leather reading chair. Shelves made of “rich mahogany” and “many leather-bound books”.

Britt: Hands down, an endless and forever water-heater.

2. If the Property Brothers upgraded one room in our house for you, what room would you want them to upgrade and why?

Britt: Master bedroom

Matt: Kitchen
